Raised Garden Bed Manufacturer in China: Buyer’s Specification Guide

A practical guide to material, coating, modular construction, safe edges, accessories, carton size and quality checks for raised garden bed sourcing.

Raised garden beds look simple, but panel thickness, coating, fasteners, edge protection and carton design can change product performance and landed cost. A factory-ready specification makes supplier quotations more comparable.

1. Select the product architecture

Define the finished shape, internal and external dimensions, height, number of panels and whether the design is fixed, modular or extendable. For elevated beds, specify legs, bracing, liner or drainage direction and the expected working load.

2. Specify material and corrosion protection

Clarify the base material, nominal thickness, surface treatment, color and intended outdoor environment. Ask how cut edges, punched holes and fasteners are protected. “Weather resistant” is not a complete specification; the expected material and test or evidence should be agreed for the destination market.

3. Control edges, joints and assembly

Review exposed edges, rolled or covered rims, corner treatment, bolt heads and the tools required for assembly. Confirm the fastener count, spare hardware, instructions and whether panels can be assembled without distortion.

4. Define optional accessories separately

Trellises, cover hoops, mesh covers, irrigation parts, liners, shelves and wheels may come from different component suppliers. Separate required and optional accessories so MOQ, cost and compatibility remain clear.

5. Treat carton size as a product decision

Panel length and stacking method affect parcel limits, damage risk and freight cost. Request packed dimensions, gross weight, internal protection and drop-handling assumptions before confirming the final size. A slightly different panel split can materially change logistics.

6. Prepare a sample and inspection checklist

  • Finished dimensions and panel thickness
  • Coating coverage, color and visible damage
  • Edge, hole and corner condition
  • Fastener quantity and assembly fit
  • Stability of elevated or wheeled designs
  • Instructions, labels and carton protection

7. Keep the quotation comparable

Ask each manufacturer to quote the same configuration, accessories, packaging and quality requirements. Confirm tooling, sample charges, MOQ, lead time and testing separately for the selected project.
